Renewable energy carriers in quicklime production

Research project In accordance with the Roadmap for a competitive fossil-free mining and minerals industry in Sweden (Swemin 2018), Nordkalk is working to introduce renewable fuels in its processes. Based on today's knowledge and technology, fuel characteristics, management systems and supply are challenging both technically and economically.

The goal with the project is to reduce CO2 emissions from quicklime production by increasing the use of renewable energy carriers. The overall objective is to reduce CO2 emissions from non-renewable energy carriers from Nordkalk AB's production of quicklime, by 46% corresponding to 71 kton /year.
