PhD project
In 2012 I moved to Umeå to start the teacher education program. During this time I have been in contact with much of the research focusing on reading and writing difficulties, literacy and mother tongue teaching and how those difficulties affect pupils performance.
The same knowledge is lacking for Sami students as well as the Sami student perspective is being overlooked.

My research will focus on the importance of mother tongue teaching for Sami pupils and how does mother tongue teaching influences Sami pupils literacy. I will analyze both reading and writing skills. My research depends on the strong collaboration bond with Sami schools, teachers, parents and pupils.
