International Directory of Arctic Social Scientists (IDAS II)
Research project
The project aims to establish an infrastructural knowledge database of current research and expertise in the humanities and social sciences linked to the Arctic and Polar Region.
In the late 1990s, began an initiative called IDASS which aimed to collect data on the individual level on all researcher of humanities and social science with activities linked to the circumpolar region. This work went into a second phase in 2007, led by professor Robert Wheelersburg, Elizabeth Town College, USA. Peter Sköld leads the Swedish branch, which in 2010 also was linked to the activities of the International Arctic Science Committee and its Working Group on the Humanities and Social Sciences and the Polar Research Secretariat Working Group on the same field.
The project is working with the establishment of a database of unique information about ongoing research and expertise in the Arctic research field within humanities and social science.
