From the classroom to the science centre: New positions for learning in science and technology?
Research project
The project examines how high school students relate to science and technology when they are in environments other than the classroom. The idea is that a different learning environment, in this case, a Science Centre, can be open to new ways of being and learning.
In the project, the researcher will follow a school class for a number of weeks during their regular teaching, their visit to a Science Centre and their work in class after visit. Interviews with both teacher, learners and educators by the Centre is planned. The analysis will focus on how teachers and students are working with science and technology at the Centre compared to the classroom. Special focus is on how learning is related to how identities as a scientist / technician are created and whether, and how, the new environment allows for positions other than the classroom and its cultural offer.
