Economic and environmental assessment of integrated phosphorus recycling from sludge ash in thermochemical biorefinery processes – impacts of metal mobility and ash particle morphology (ReAsh)
Research project
The project aims to determine how economic and environmental performance of thermochemical biorefinery processes may be impacted by integrating P recycling from ash fractions.
This requires analysis of elemental flows through the value chain to determine how fuel composition, thermal process conditions, and ash particle morphology affects P plant availability and environmental impact in terms of potentially harmful elements. These effects are then quantified and evaluated in economic terms.
