Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) in Sweden – prevalence, clinical characteristics and risk factors
Research project
Chronic pulmonary embolism with high pressure in the small circulation (CTEPH) after undergoing acute embolism in the lung (LE = pulmonary embolism) is a serious condition, and has diffuse symptoms and is often missed. At least two, perhaps four, percent develop the condition after an acute LE, and other illnesses increase the risk of CTEPH. There is life-saving treatment. We want to determine the occurrence of CTEPH after an acute LE and risk factors for this development.
