Research infrastructure
The construction workers cohort contains data from more than 389,000 individuals from the Swedish construction industry that was collected from 1971 to 1993 that can be linked with other Swedis registers.
About CWC
The construction workers cohort is based on data from Bygghälsan, an industry-specific occupational health service for the Swedish construction industry, which started in 1968 and ended at the beginning of 1993. All connected people were offered regular health examinations. Some of the results from these were saved in a register, from 1971 in computerized form. More than 389,000 individuals are included in the register. When Bygghälsan ceased to be an occupational health service, the register was transferred to the Working Life Institute to be used for research.
The Working Life Institute has been closed and the register is now managed by Umeå University and governed by a steering committee with representatives from unions and employers.
Access
Those interested in using the cohort for research may contact Martin Andersson or Jens Wahlström for further directions. If the steering committee decides that data may be used for the specified research study, a fee starting at 5000 SEK with additional costs which covers working time for statistician/data manager will be charged.
