Flow cytometry enables simultaneously analysis of cell surface bound as well as intracellular proteins and RNA expression on a single cell basis. In addition, secreted proteins can be analyzed using a bead based systems.
Flow cytometry is a powerful tool for rapid analysis of single cells or particles. It allows for distinct phenotyping of cells based on their expression of surface- or intracellular molecules or proteins. The additional capacity for rapid cell sorting based on these characteristics also allows for downstream applications such as functional- or genetic/transcriptional analysis. The use of flow cytometry to measure fluorescently labelled beads in a multiplex setting also allows for simultaneous assessment of hundreds of biomarkers in one sample.
The Umeå University Flow Cytometric Core Facility provides state-of-the-art equipment and training for advanced analysis and cell sorting of single cells or detection of multiple biomarkers in solution. We can also aid with hands-on sample and equipment handling, if required.
