Research infrastructure
The Demographic Data Base (DDB) is a national research infrastructure that registers, processes and disseminates data for research, educational and archival purposes and promotes scientific collaboration and method development.
The Demographic Data Base (DDB) is a national research infrastructure, by a central government ordinance, with a mission to register, process and disseminate data for research, educational and archival purposes and promote scientific collaboration and method development within these field.
The research infrastructure provides several research databases with rich information about Sweden’s population, on the individual- and aggregate level. Data is of high relevance for many scientific fields, and the user base is both national and international.
DDB is located within the Centre for Demography and Aging Research (CEDAR) engaged in multidisciplinary research on demographic change and ageing, and a majority of the researchers at CEDAR use register data, survey data or longitudinal population data in their research. Two of the Swedish Research Council’s national infrastructures, CORS and SwedPop are also located at the centre.
Access and support
Through the close connection that exists between DDB and the research at CEDAR, a combination of high quality technical and academic expertise are offered. DDB offers research support, consulting, user support, and various tools:
Consulting for researchers and research projects on DDB's data
Researchers can order dataset customized to their research question, please note for some of the databases, access is limited due to restrictions
Users can freely download datasets themselves via one of our network tools. (individual data up to 1920 and aggregated data)
Method development and digitizing missions
Provide the tool PERSONA, which is a customizable system for data entry of parish registers information and has been funded by the Swedish Research Council.
