About TRC

All research groups in building 6M have been involved in the work of creating the research network that is now called the Translational Research Centre, abbreviated as TRC. Within the network there is a steering group whose task is to look after the interests of all research groups, and thus each department and unit in building 6M is represented in the TRC steering group.

Background

In addition to the TRC steering committee, there is a joint service function with a financial assistant and two stewards, who handle the purchase of products and services for the organisation and ensure that the premises and equipment are adapted to the organisation and function.

All laboratory research in building 6M is connected to the new interdepartmental network.

The network includes research groups from six departments and different research areas, but with common needs for equipment and facilities.
In addition to collaborating on medical equipment and infrastructures, it is also important to strengthen the intellectual and creative environment, including through joint seminar series and recurring house days with different research themes. In addition, common resources are created for procedures and management of reagent and equipment purchases, among other things.

The proximity to the clinical activities in Laboratory Medicine and other activities at Norrland University Hospital is an important success factor for research activities in 6M.
Translational research can be described as the bridge between clinical and preclinical research. This applies to research in clinical trials, biobanking and analyses of samples.

The TRC will also be an important platform for the many clinically active doctors who conduct their research in 6M.
All research groups have been involved in creating a research network within building 6M. This is in line with the ‘umu spirit’ that is part of the University's vision.

The name Translation Research Centre (TRC) for the research environment in 6M reflects the activities carried out and can be seen as a ‘brand’ for the successful research carried out on the research floors in 6M.
