A major domain that social workers encounter is that of the family – especially when social problems relate to children and youth. This research profile deals with how child welfare polices have developed in Sweden historically, and how it evolves in Sweden compared with other countries, i.e. as a response to the global evidence-based movement. Within this field there are studies about the conditions in which young people grow up and how their life styles may become problematic. This area deals with both person-to-person intervention within social services and other organisations, as well as the general welfare context and its impact on living conditions.
