Research group
Our research is focused on geochemical processes on the molecular scale, and in particular the water/mineral interface of silicate minerals, such as zeolites and clay minerals or other nanometric mineral particles having large specific surface areas.
Due to the latter property, these mineral-based systems control the fate of many inorganic and organic solutes, with relevance for both natural processes in soils, as well as industrial applications.
In order to obtain molecule scale insights of these sometimes complex multiphase and multicomponent geochemical systems, our group use many different experimental and computational chemistry methods, in particular powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and molecular dynamics simulations using for instance our local ‘super computer’ Kebnekaise at HPC2N/UMU.
