Research group
Magnus Sjögren's research group mainly investigates the psychopathology but also the biology of eating disorders with the aim of finding more effective treatments.
Both psychological (e.g., emotion regulation & personality) and biological (e.g., appetite-stimulating hormones) factors contribute to perpetuating eating disorders. We investigate how different forms of interventions affect eating disorder pathology, for example, through clinical trials. Our findings help us to understand, develop, implement and disseminate evidence-based treatments for this group of individuals.
Our research is mainly conducted in Region Västernorrland, Sweden. The results guide us to use the most effective treatment options for patients with eating disorders, locally, nationally and internationally. Within our research group, studies are also conducted in the fields of sports psychology and substance use disorders.
