Research group The profile area concerns research and education in human suffering and psychological components of mental illness. The area covers the systematic exploration of the genesis, development, diagnostics, assessment, treatment and prevention of clinical psychological conditions.

The department’s research within the profile area covers psychosocial aspects of infertility and family building, as well as being diagnosed with cancer at a young age. We also conduct research regarding stress-related and psychosomatic illness and examine the effects of psychological treatments. Other areas of research concern the teaching of clinical skills, measurement of mental illness, neurological injuries, fatigue, pain as well as self-injuring behaviour and suicide. The profile group is responsible for clinical courses of the psychology and psychotherapy programs, including courses on investigation, evaluation and treatment of psychological conditions. We also provide guidance to our students in their professional development, including clinical skills.
