Umeå University and USBE earns AACSB International Accreditation
NEWS
Tampa, Fla., USA (February 20, 2018)—AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) announces that Umeå University has earned accreditation for its Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics (USBE). Founded in 1916, AACSB is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools, and the largest business education network connecting students, educators, and businesses worldwide.
“AACSB Accreditation recognizes institutions that have demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development, and student learning,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “We congratulate Umeå University and dean Sofia Lundberg on earning accreditation, and applaud the entire Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics team—including the administration, faculty, directors, staff, and students—for their roles in earning this respected honor.”
Synonymous with the highest standards of quality, AACSB Accreditation inspires new ways of thinking within business education globally and, as a result, has been earned by less than 5 percent of the world's business schools. Today, 810 institutions across 53 countries and territories maintain AACSB Accreditation. Furthermore, 186 institutions maintain an additional specialized AACSB Accreditation for their accounting programs.
“At USBE, we are proud to be a part of the AACSB community. It is the efforts of many—and the progress we have made together—that has taken us to where we are today, and earning accreditation is a milestone accomplishment. Next, ahead of us lies the outlook of continuous improvement in all we do,” said Sofia Lundberg, dean.
AACSB Accreditation provides a framework of 15 international standards against which business schools around the world assess the quality of their educational services. These standards ensure continuous improvement and provide focus for schools to deliver on their mission, innovate, and drive impact. AACSB-accredited schools have successfully undergone a rigorous review process conducted by their peers in the business education community, ensuring that they have the resources, credentials, and commitment needed to provide students with a first-rate, future-focused business education.
“Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics’ commitment to earning accreditation is a true reflection of their dedication—not only to their students, alumni network, and greater business community, but to the higher education industry as a whole,” said Bryant. “Today’s students are tomorrow’s business leaders, and the addition of Umeå University to the network of AACSB-accredited business schools will have a lasting positive impact for their institution, both locally and globally.”
AACSB International also announced that Robert Gordon University, Georgia Gwinnett College, IFIM Business School, International University of Japan, Lawrence Technological University, Tunghai University, Universidad de Monterrey, University of Saskatchewan, University of Science and Technology Beijing, and University of Southampton have earned accreditation in business.
