Professor Lone Simonsen, Roskilde University and PandemiX Center of Excellence, Denmark
Professor Lone Simonsen leads Roskilde University's PandemiX Center of Excellence, focusing on interdisciplinary pandemic research, supported by the Danish National Research Foundation. With over 25 years of experience as an epidemiologist at the CDC, NIH and WHO, she has over 350 publications on pandemic preparedness and disease modeling. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Simonsen advised the Danish government and was widely featured in the media as "Corona-Lone." In 2023, she was knighted by the Order of Dannebrog and received the Fritz Kaufmann Prize.
Professor Kim Sneppen, Copenhagen University and PandemiX Center of Excellence, Denmark
Professor Kim Sneppen at Copenhagen University specializes in complex systems and biophysics, covering everything from microbiology to population dynamics. He led the Center for Models of Life from 2005-2015 and has been a Danish Royal Academy of Sciences member since 2006. Awarded an ERC grant in 2017, his work focuses on statistical mechanics to explore biological diversity and competition, significantly advancing the understanding of epigenetics, ecosystem dynamics, and disease-immune system interactions.
