Three student unions appointed by the University Board

The University Board has decided to grant the Umeå Student Union, Umeå Medical and Health Sciences Student Union, and Umeå Student Union of Natural Sciences and Technology continued status as student unions at Umeå University. Accordingly, these are the same unions that will continue to represent students at Umeå University.

The criteria that must be met to obtain the status of a student union include that all students within the organisation have the right to become members, and that the purpose of the union must be to monitor and participate in the development of education and conditions for studies at the university.
The University Board has decided to grant the following student associations union status for the period July 2022 to June 2025:
Umeå Medical and Health Sciences Student Union with the Faculty of Medicine as its area of activity,
Umeå Student Union of Natural Sciences and Technology with the Faculty of Science and Technology as its area of activity,
Umeå Student Union with the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Social Sciences and Umeå School of Education as its area of activity.
All unions meet the requirements of the Swedish Higher Education Act and the rules decided by the University Board. The unions relate to different areas within the University and therefore there is no competitive situation, and that all students at the University have a union within its activities.
