Graduation Ceremony is a way for the university to acknowledge the students and their efforts at Umeå University and to welcome them as alumni. The ceremony has been arranged for seven consecutive years.
“Last year's ceremony was the first to be conducted digitally, due to the pandemic. Of course, we had hoped to be able to meet physically this year, but since it is not possible, we are happy to be able to offer this as an alternative”, says Emilia Emilsson at the International Office. “The students are worthy of attention and get a ceremonial end to their studies here”.
The ceremony began with a congratulatory speech by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Katrine Riklund. Among other things, she encouraged the students to continue learning and continue to have an open mind and thanked the students for choosing Umeå University.
The participating master's students were, just like in a physical ceremony, called by name. During the roll call, many students took the opportunity to thank family, teachers and friends. The students also received greetings from a few alumni and listened to artist Magda Andersson performing two songs.
