It’s the Swedish Institute which, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for the eleventh consecutive year, invites Swedish Universities to nominate a student from a country outside the EU/EES to Global Swede. The award is given to active, committed and enthusiastic students who are excellent in areas closely related to innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, and have shown that they are great representatives of their own country as well as Sweden.

The post-pandemic world will bring along many transformations and required "updates" in public policy, business, and academia. In order for these transformations to occur and improve people's lives, evidence-based capabilities and innovative leadership are indispensable, especially in resource-constrained settings. I feel very happy and encouraged that through these acknowledgments, both Umeå University and the Swedish Government through the Swedish Institute are incentivizing and supporting these kinds of academic-driven leaderships all over the world, says Sergio.
