As previously announced, Umeå University is investing SEK 50 million in three prioritised research areas. A plan is ready for the area of the brain and learning.
The area in question is called Learning and brain plasticity throughout the life span.
"The plan has been approved by the university management, and during the spring semester we will start advertising for post-docs and doctoral students. We have already received some co-funding from Umeå School of Education," says area manager Lars Nyberg.
Within the area, the focus is on the following:
1. Mechanisms underlying benefits of active learning with feedback – from basic science to the classroom
2. Deep phenotyping to predict successful intervention outcomes
3. Brain and vascular development in relation to educational, neurocognitive and health outcomes in preterm born young adults
4. Linking neuronal control of metabolism to cognition: from macro- to micro-circuit plasticity
