Umeå School of Business and Economics (USBE) annually awards a pedagogical prize. The purpose is to encourage our teachers who do good educational efforts within undergraduate and graduate education and to stimulate pedagogical development at the school.
The prize sum is 20 000 SEK (gross) and can be awarded an individual teacher or a teacher’s team in the form of a travel scholarship that can be used for conferences, study visits or similar.
The pedagogical prize is awarded at the USBE Graduation Ceremony June 3.
USBE’s quality system for education is based on student-centered learning and in the 2016 nomination the aim is to recognize teachers that in their education consciously work in a way that support students’ learning and have a focus on learning and how learning occurs. This can be shown as
learning activities and/or pedagogical methods that motivate students to take responsibility for his/her own learning
course design and/or methods to meet students with different needs
learning activities and pedagogical methods that make students relate to prior knowledge and experiences
Employees and students at USBE are invited to nominate teachers for the USBE pedagogical prize. Nominations are given online no later than April 7 2016.
Nominated teachers will be asked to describe their pedagogical activities based on the nomination and this will be the basis for the nomination committees work.
The nomination committee consist of USBE Directors of Study with responsibility for education, two pedagogical merited teachers, one student representative from HHUS, and one student representative from SAMSEK. The USBE dean will appoint the recipient of the prize.
