NEWS On Tuesday 26 August, scientists at MIMS, Umeå University, opened an international conference with representatives present from all nodes of the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine. The keynote speaker is Emmanuelle Charpentier, professor at MIMS, who will discuss in depth about her discovery of the CRISPR-Cas9, and its potential applications.
The Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden (MIMS) is included in Umeå University's strong research environment Infection biology. MIMS is the Swedish node in the Nordic partnership with the European flagship in molecular biology - European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).
Each director of the Nordic nodes in EMBL will be attending the conference and will speak about the ongoing activities in their respective operations. Also participating is Iain Mattaj, Professor and Director General of EMBL, and an honorary doctor at Umeå University,
