NEWS To increase security when logging in to the systems you use at Umeå University, all students are asked to add an extra layer of protection. In addition to your username and password, with the help of "MFA" you can add another way to confirm your identity and thus prevent unauthorized access to your accounts.

MFA, or multi-factor authentication as it is called, provides an extra layer of protection when logging into Umeå University's various systems and digital services. After you have activated MFA, you can use the "Microsoft Authenticator" app to confirm your identity when you log in to, for example, Microsoft 365.
The advantage of MFA is that your account receives a higher level of security. It will be more difficult for outsiders to be able to log in and access your information as it would require access to both your Umu ID, password and mobile device.
