Over seven per cent increase in admitted international master’s students

Prospective students around the world received their admission notices on 30 March. At Umeå University, 7.4% more students have been admitted to international master's programmes starting in autumn 2023 in comparison with the prior year.

1,149 students were admitted to over 40 international master's programmes at Umeå University for the autumn 2023 semester.

"We are looking forward to welcoming all new students in August and are pleased that so many have chosen a study programme at Umeå University, says Cathrine Norberg, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Education at Umeå University.
Master's degree programmes in public health and business remain strong. There are also many reserves hoping for a place. There is strong competition for places at Umeå University in general, with almost 3,000 qualified applicants for just over 1,000 educational places.

In total, the number of admitted students has increased by 6.7% at all Swedish higher educational institutions Umeå University ranks 13 out of 31 among Sweden's higher education institutions. The autumn semeter 2023 starts on 28 August at Umeå University.
