Drop in 2024 QS ranking

NEWS Umeå University has dropped about 100 places in the most recent ranking by QS World University Rankings 2024. This year, the University finds itself in place 465 globally out of the 1,500 higher education institutions included in the ranking. This compares to last year’s place 369. In Swedish comparison, this means Umeå University still retains its eighth place from last year.

Compared to all rated universities from around the world, a position as number 465 means that Umeå University reaches the top 31 per cent in the world. Last year, Umeå University was among the top 26 per cent. So even if a higher number of universities are ranked this year compared to previous years, Umeå University has still dropped positions. Comparisons between years are complicated, though, since some indicators for which the universities are assessed are weighed differently. The indicators for which Umeå University fell short this year compared to last were “Employer reputation”, “Citations per faculty” and “Faculty-student ratio”.
