International collaboration is becoming increasingly important and the continuing relationship between Umeå University and Stanford University in the United States is very meaningful.
Björn Åstrand, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Historical, Philosophical and Religious studies, has been offered a guest researcher position at the Stanford University School of Education.
His assignment will begin on the 9th of January and runs through the conclusion of the spring semester. Björn Åstrand will return to Umeå in the autumn of 2012. His research work at Stanford will be related to the field of Curriculum Studies and Teacher Education Program (CTE). The educational history and history teaching research group at the Department of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies has been working together with the Stanford History Education Group, a collaboration in which Björn Åstrand will be included.
The Stanford University School of Education has a highly successful teacher training program and has, with its acclaimed East Palo Alto Academy, developed a special partnership to develop and sustain small, innovative, high-performing public schools in under-served communities.
