To strengthen clinical research and more closely incorporate it with preclinical research, MIMS decided in 2009 to initiate a program for Clinical Research Fellows. This programme has the intention to connect existing clinical research projects with preclinical research, and offers resources corresponding to research positions for young clinicians who can contribute to a fruitful translational interaction between clinicians and MIMS research programs.
The MIMS Clinical Fellowships later evolved into a national programme, with awards going to clinicians at all major university hospitals in Sweden.
