Umeå University researchers can publish open access at no cost in a large proportion of Wiley journals. Read more about the terms of our agreement with the publisher for 2025 and what it means for you here.
The open access publishing fee (APC, article processing charge) has been pre-paid through an agreement between the library and Wiley. This applies to open access publishing in a large proportion of Wiley's hybrid journals and their open access journals. The exception is around 60 journals that do not offer open access publishing.
Terms and conditions
You must be the corresponding author, i.e., the one handling communication with the publisher and journal. If the article has more than one corresponding author, you will need to appoint a Responsible Corresponding Author. Only that person’s affiliation will be used to determine if your article is eligible for inclusion under the agreement.
Your Umeå University affiliation must be stated in the published article.
Use your university email ending with @umu.se. The email domain is used to recognise your eligibility.
The agreement applies to articles in open access journals with a submitted date during 2024-2025 and in hybrid journals with an acceptance date during 2024-2025.
The agreement applies to research and review articles.
Most of Wiley’s journals offer the CC BY license. A few only offer CC BY-NC and CC BY-NC-ND. You can check policies for specific journals in Wiley’s Author Compliance Tool.
The agreement does not cover additional charges, such as page charges or charges for colour illustrations.
