Access to books, databases, and journals via Umeå University Library
Borrow books
As an employee of Region Västerbotten, you can borrow printed books at Umeå University Library. You apply for a library card by filling out the form for the general public, and then you pick up the library card at one of our information desks. Please be sure to bring a valid photo ID. After that, you can borrow books from our three units:
Medical Library;
University Library; and
Arts Campus Library.
If you are affiliated with Umeå University and have a Umu card, it serves as your library card.
Our libraries provide access to many collections, both digital resources and physical materials. These include the latest scholarly literature, unique archival and specialised collections, fiction, and more.
If you cannot find the material you are looking for in the library collections, you can request what you need for your professional practice. We will purchase what you request or order it as an interlibrary loan.
The databases and journals that Region Västerbotten subscribes to can be accessed via the region's intranet. If you need guidance in these resources, you are welcome to contact the Medical Library.
Databases and journals that Umeå University Library subscribes to can be accessed when you visit the library. If you are affiliated with the University, you can use the resources even outside the library by logging in with your Umu-id.
