Our proposal
The project can support research fellows, companies and clinicians seeking to apply for funding for collaborative projects with other actors in the field of Life Science.
We:
Support the process of applying for external funding with, e.g., tools and agreements.
Provides support and activities for idea generation and matchmaking in research, care, and welfare environments.
Improve the visibility and attractiveness of stakeholders in Norrbotten and Västerbotten within various networks and clusters.
Facilitate companies, research fellows, clinicians and other stakeholders in finding partners or participating in collaborative projects.
Provide guidance on methods for creating collaborative projects.
Offers the necessary knowledge for managing intellectual assets and rights.
Objective
The main objective is to ensure that more ideas for health, care, and welfare are utilized and implemented, and to increase the participation of stakeholders from Norrbotten and Västerbotten in international collaboration projects. The goal of the project is to create better conditions for identifying and refining ideas, as well as to develop a structure for collaboration through a unified support function that offers advice, access to networks, and expertise in innovation and intellectual property rights.
Project period
The project will run from 2023 to 2026.
Project participants
Partners in the project are the Innovation Office at Umeå University, Luleå University of Technology, Region Västerbotten, Region Norrbotten, Skellefteå Municipality, Umeå Municipality and Umeå University Holding AB.
The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Region Västerbotten and Umeå municipality are co-financing SOLH.

Idea search and matchmaking
Identify the needs and interests of care and welfare services, as well as commercially interesting research results and business ideas. This includes ideas, solutions, needs, results, and assets with potential to be utilized in health, care, and welfare.
Connect and develop joint structures and methods for innovation processes by defining common interfaces and digital platforms for idea and innovation support. Create meeting places that involve staff from care and welfare services.

Funding and Environment
Develop joint support for identifying partners and matchmaking in priority areas, as well as a virtual platform for information on funding opportunities among project stakeholders.
Monitor the external environment and proactively work to make northern Sweden more relevant as project partners at the EU level.
Provide guidance for the impact section of research proposals.
