How large catches can the herring populations tolerate? What can be considered sustainable herring fishing? Associate Professor Henrik Svedäng, Stockholm University, describes the problems and explains how the recommendations/forecasts are created and followed. Henrik Svedäng has worked as a fisheries biologist since 1992, and has focused on, among other things, migration behaviour, stock division and the historical development of fish stocks. He has also, in collaboration with economists, sociologists and lawyers, studied the concept of ecosystem-based fisheries management.
The seminar is organized by the Professors' Association SULF Umeå, Umeå Marine Sciences Centre and the research program EcoChange.
The seminar will be held in Swedish.
A limited number of light lunches will be offered. "First come, first served" applies.
