UMA Talks: Immateriality – the æstetics of necessity

Umeå School of Architecture is delighted to welcome Nel Jan Schipull for the inaugural UMA Talks event of the fall semester 2024.
Nel Jan Schipull is a Danish architect recognized for his innovative designs and contributions to contemporary architecture. Nel studied at the Technische Universität Darmstadt (Dipl.Ing. Architekt, 2005) and the Royal Danish Academy (PhD, 2014). Today he is an Architect and Partner at Vandkunsten Architects in Copenhagen. Nel’s work is noted for preserving cultural heritage while at the same time promoting contemporary architectural practices. Schipull has been awarded for his commitment to sustainability in architecture.
The event is introduced and moderated by James Benedict Brown, Associate professor & Coordinator for the Vertical Workshop, and Cornelia Redeker, Head of Department at Umeå School of Architecture (UMA). The event is held in English.
The lecture is both part of UMA:s annual Vertical Workshop which opens every academic year, and the public event series UMA Talks.
