Time Monday 13 March, 2023 at 11:30 - 13:00
Place Triple Helix

Arctic Centre at Umeå University introduces Audrey Schillings, who will present her co-authored chapter in the SESS report. She will discuss their findings on the temperature’s variations from different altitudes over the last 40 years in Svalbard and some interesting seasonal asymmetry.

Audrey Schillings is a Postdoctoral fellow at Department of Physics at Umeå University, and last year, she and her colleagues submitted a short proposal to write a chapter in the annual State of Environment Science in Svalbard (SESS) report. They got funded and conducted research on the long-term trends and seasonal asymmetries in temperatures from the ground level to space on Svalbard. They also looked at a possible correlation with the solar cycle. Finally, they combined data from meteorological stations, satellites, stratospheric balloons, and radars.
