This workshop will explain the three common moves of an introduction: establishing the research territory; establishing a niche; occupying the niche (Swales and Feak). Typical language and phrases as well as verb tense will also be covered. Students will have time to examine their own introduction to reflect on language and mark how and where they are signaling moves in their own paper. Deadline for signing up is 5 pm Monday, April 9.
