The European Union (EU) operates as a multi-level political system where power is distributed across various institutions, including the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, and the European Commission. These bodies work together to create and implement policies that affect all member states. The upcoming EU election will significantly influence future climate policies, as the new composition of these institutions will determine legislative priorities, including environmental initiatives.
Magnus Blomgren, Associated professor in Political Science, Umeå university will present a poll of polls and predictions about the election's potential outcomes. His research focuses on how political parties and national parliaments adapt to changing circumstances within the EU. Blomgren's insights will help us understand how the election could shift the balance of power, potentially impacting the EU's climate policy direction. The election is thus a pivotal moment for the EU's approach to climate change, since the outcomes will shape the trajectory of the environmental strategies.
