Symposium: Civic Identity and Education

Visiting the Umeå Research Centre for Social Studies Didactics (UmSOD), Associate Professor Anuleena Kimanen, University of Turku, Finland, will present results from a project on Finnish ethnic minority youth constructing civic identity.

The symposium programme lists five other projects related to the theme with presenters from Dalarna University, Södertörn University, Örebro University and Umeå University. The presentations are held in Swedish or English.

The symposium is co-arranged by the research project “Controversial Issues in Social Studies Education: A Comparative Study in Subject Didactics”, the research project “Critical thinking, social belonging and democratic participation: Vocational students civic Bildung and the enacted curricula”, the HESSD seminar, UmSOD and the Department of Education.
