Are you aware of your biases and their consequences, when doing research and teaching?
Join us in this seminar to discuss these current and much needed questions.

In this seminar, Marieke Maesters will share some preliminary answers to these questions based on an exploratory project at the Wageningen Center for Sustainability Governance at Wageningen University, the Netherlands. Marieke will share how structural exclusion, discrimination and (neo)colonial behavior take place at her own research center, after which she will share some ways in which they are now trying to tackle these behaviors. We will then interactively explore similarities, differences and ways forward in the context of Umeå University, and more specifically in the context of the Department of Geography. In this seminar, Marieke will also share some of the tools that they used to map teaching practices, including designing reading lists and lectures.
