What do we do with critique in norm critique?

Norm critique as concept is at its core an oxymoron, i.e., a term in contradiction. Norms designate the normal, the taken for granted, and hegemony. Critique denotes questioning what is considered normal, common sense, and dominant structures. Hence, it seems worth exploring and discussing how critique spells out in, with and of norm critique. In other words, what forms of critique are at play in current practices of norm critique? What kind of critical perspectives are afforded by norm critique? What critiques of norm critique can be raised and with what theoretical implications?

The Shifting Grounds Research network has invited active norm critical scholars to read, comment and discuss the five articles presented in the themed issue on critique in, with and of norm critique published in Dansk pædagogisk Tidsskrift October 2024.
