Welcome to the inaugural workshop of Plant science for a sustainable green transformation of the subarctic; one of the three prioritized research areas at Umeå University.
The aim of Plant science for a sustainable green transformation of the subarctic area is to strengthen existing research, expand it towards new applications and establish new collaborations with research groups at other departments at Umeå University and beyond. The research area ranges from basic to applied research and integrates expertise from all faculties, including social sciences (for example, economics, food and nutrition, political science) and art and humanities. The purpose is to foster a transition towards sustainable forestry and food production and consumption in the European Arctic (subarctic).
This is an opportunity to learn more about plans, visions and current research relevant to the area, get to know researchers and other stakeholders interested in the value chain from plant to food. The program includes short presentations from the different disciplines (before lunch) and submitted presentations in a lightning talk session.
Submissions for the lightning talks are welcome from junior or senior researchers at Umeå university that would like to present how their research could contribute to the prioritized area. Submit a brief abstract, maximum 1 A4 page to stefan.jansson@umu.se or sofia.lundberg@umu.se before October 20, 2024. We may have to prioritize among the submissions
We also of course welcome you to participate without a presentation.
