It is clear that current global system for consuming and producing food is not viable in the long term, but what does that mean for adolescents in a local context in northern Sweden? Children and young people are often promoted as agents of change in the sustainability discussion. At the same time, “sustainable food” can be perceived and valued in various ways. Being able and willing to act for sustainable change can depend on many things, such as courage, curiosity, self-awareness and being able to relate to others. Exploring and experiencing food with senses can play a role here. This project is therefore interested in the complexity of the question of what 'sustainable food' means for adolescents in northern Sweden. The project also wants to contribute to increased knowledge about the hitherto under-researched area of the meanings of sensory experiences for adolescents’ relations with food, self, and each other. The project is limited to including research participants from Västerbotten and Norrbotten aged 15 – 18 years. All sub-studies use qualitative methods.
