The Research Seminar Series in Philosophy invites you to a seminar with Martin Abreu Zavaleta, Umeå University, "The case for social externalism, reconsidered".
Abstract:
Available arguments for social externalism tend to rely on intuitions about what people in certain counterfactual situations believe. Many authors have claimed that this appeal to intuitions is methodologically unsound. In this talk, I will offer a new argument in favor of social externalism that relies only on general, widely accepted principles. As we will see, however, this style of reasoning can lead to puzzling consequences.
All interested are welcome to participate in this seminar.
