To encourage cross-pollination of ideas between researchers from different disciplines, the Integrated Science Lab (IceLab) hosts interdisciplinary research lunches with the vision of allowing ideas to meet and mate. During the Lunch Pitch Season, the creative lunches take place at KBC every other Thursday.
Who is pitching about what?
Pitch 1: Laura Carroll, Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Microbiology at Umeå University and a SciLifeLab and Wallenberg Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) Fellow Machine learning approaches for microbial secondary metabolite discovery
Interested in: connecting with experimentalists - particularly in leveraging GECCO to discover novel antimicrobials.
Pitch 2: Danielle Wilde and Teresa Frisan, Professor at Umeå Institute of Design (UID) & Professor at the Department of Molecular Biology, UCMR Växtvägg – bringing micro and macro to the service of human-plant interactions
Interested in: finding collaborators who can extend and deepen this work. One possibility is to undertake a microenvironmental analysis using artificial intelligence for identification of the sampled bacterial colonies. Other possibilities of extending the work are welcome!
Join the conversation - ideas welcome from anyone!
