Place Zoom

How is Generative AI redefining the nature and governance of digital platforms?
In this talk, I will confront the common misconception that Generative AI is merely a supplementary tool or a powerful feature. I will attempt to examine how integrating Generative AI into digital platforms can, in fact, promote a fundamental reconfiguration of relations and roles. This process goes beyond simple feature integration or improved efficiency; it entails interactive delegations and platform custodianship, necessitating boundary work. The talk will delineate the concept of 'generative platforms' which imply a fundamental shift in the nature of traditional digital platforms and their governance. Insights from a case study of an educational digital platform that has recently integrated Generative AI will ground our discussion.
