In this shared talk, Paola Torres will be in conversation with Sarah Cook about curating the exhibition Sentient Machines together with the GPT-3 model, and about the Futureless Festival and the ideas and goals behind it. Focusing on the challenges and complexities associated with introducing new art and exhibitions, exploring the dynamic and rapidly changing aesthetics of art and AI. The lecture will highlight the processes and considerations behind setting up these exhibitions, and how they contribute to our understanding of art and AI development.
Paola Torres Nunez del Prado is a transdisciplinary artist and researcher who works with textile assemblages and embroidery, painting, sound, text, digital media, interactive art, A.I., and video (and their interrelation). Her works are part of the collections of the Swedish Public Art Agency and the Malmo City Museum. As part of the "Futureless Festival For Technology and the Arts," she curated "Sentient Machines?" in 2022, considered the first collective A.I. art exhibition in Sweden.
Sarah Cook is the WASP-HS Guest Professor in Art and AI in partnership with Bildmuseet, Umeå School of Architecture (UMA), and Umeå Institute of Design (UID), based in UmArts. Sarah is a research-based curator and scholar working at the intersection of art, design, digital and electronic media, science and technology, with over 20 years experience in commissioning new media and digital art.
