#frAIday hybrid Professor Alejandro Rodríguez González will give the lecture via link. You can participate via Zoom or join us at Galaxen, Umeå University. Welcome!
Abstract The intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and biomedicine is transforming the way we approach healthcare, offering powerful tools for analyzing vast amounts of biomedical data and allowing its exploitation to improve population health status. This talk aims to explore the main areas in the AI sector and how AI is getting a pivotal role in accelerating drug discovery and, specifically, in drug repurposing (the area which aims to find new therapeutic uses for existing drugs).
The talk will be focused in presenting how biomedical data can be exploited (from a data-driven and AI perspective) to extract knowledge and insights that allows the creation of drug repurposing hypotheses.
Professor Alejandro Rodríguez González is working at E.T.S de Ingenieros Informáticos in Computer Languages and Systems and Software Engineering department at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. He also belong to the Centro de Tecnología Biomédica, where he lead the Medical Data Analytics Laboratory (MEDAL).
