Since the discovery of penicillin, the cellular wall has been one of the primary targets of antibiotics. The development of resistant bacteria poses a growing problem and is already a serious threat to our possibilities of treating infections. Felipe Cava's research aims at both finding new elementary knowledge in bacteriology, and at improving our opportunities to fight infectious diseases.
Felipe Cava will receive the Eric K. Fernström Prize at the Annual Celebration Ceremony on 20 October at 17:00 in Aula Nordica.
