Welcome to a CEDAR seminar with Elisabeth Engberg and Erling Häggström Gunfridsson.

Hardship and Death during the 19th Century with a focus on two of the 19th century's major crises, the war of 1808–1809 and the crop failures of the 1860s

Northern Sweden experienced two major crises in the 19th century: the Finnish War of 1808–1809 and the 1860s economic crisis. Our focus is Västerbotten, and we want to provide a deeper understanding of the complexity of these crises and how they affected the population and society in both the short and long-term perspectives. Additionally, we aim to demonstrate how local history can be connected to and make important contributions to an international field of research.

All interested are welcome to participate in this seminar. This seminar is held at floor 4 NBET and online via Zoom.  If you wish to participate via zoom contact Mojgan Padyab.
