Theme eHealth and UMeHealth Lab invite you to a seminar with Teresa Almeida, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Informatics, who will talk about how fertility apps collect sensitive and intimate information from their users.

Fertility apps are for many an affordable solution when trying to conceive or manage their pregnancy. However, intimate data is not only collected but also shared without the user's knowledge or consent. In this seminar, we address the privacy risks that can arise from mismanagement, misuse and incorrect use of intimate data, which are intertwined in individual life events and in public health issues such as abortion and (in) fertility.

We highlight GDPR and how it processes fertility data and evaluate the integrity of the top 30 "fertility apps" through their privacy notices and tracking practices. Finally, we discuss the regulations and fertility data as crucial for the future design of tracking technology and privacy rights.
