In conjunction to the exhibition Eco-Visionaries, Bildmuseet invites you to an Friday afternoon with artist talks and panel discussions on art as a response to the world’s ecological challenges. Free admission, limited seating. Language: english. Welcome!

The artists Amy Franceschini from the international art collective Futurefarmers and Marjetica Potrč are both participating in this event, as well as in the ongoing exhibition. Their artistry takes different expressions but they both work with a sort of activism that not only aim to change our perspectives on the world, but also the way we relate to it. Introduction and moderator: Museum curator Anders Jansson, Bildmuseet.

In collaboration with the Art Consultants in Västerbotten and Umeå Academy of Fine Arts.

The seminar ends at 17:00, but warmly welcome to stay for the evenings Art Friday with bar and screening of Acoustic Ocean by Ursula Biemann, one of the artists participating in the Eco-Visionaries exhibition:

The Eco-Visionaries exhibition presents alternative approaches to, and ideas about the relationship between human beings and the environmental, social and mental ecologies - systems that are intrinsically linked and interactive. The participating artists propose more sustainable attitudes towards the place of human beings on this earth.

The exhibition includes video works, sound works, drawing, books and installations by: Ursula Biemann, (b. 1955, Switzerland) and Paulo Tavares (b. 1980, Brazil), Carolina Caycedo (b. 1978, the UK), the international group Futurefarmers, Marjetica Potrč (b. 1953, Slovenia), Samuel Roturier (b. 1982, France), Erik Sjödin (f. 1979, Sweden), Leena Valkeapää (b. 1964, Finland) and Oula-Antti Valkeapää (b. 1970, Finland) and Elin Már Øyen Vister (b. 1976, Norway).

A programme of open lectures, seminars and film screening is offered in conjunction to the exhibition, of which this event is a part.
