ÂNGELA FERREIRA / PAN AFRICAN UNITY MURAL What is a home if you’re constantly on the move? In her exhibition Pan African Unity Mural, artist Ângela Ferreira presents sculptures and murals in different spaces in Bildmuseet. She references South African singer Miriam Makeba and US fugitive George Wright, interweaving their life stories with her own. The exhibition title refers to a mural which Ângela Ferreira created together with thirteen other artists in 1986–87 in Cape Town, South Africa, in protest against the apartheid regime.
Bildmuseet is open all day, but the Friday evening activities start at 17:00. The restaurant offers a light menu if you want to have a snack. The Art Friday will be open until 21:00, and then it is just a short walk to Umeå’s nightlife if you want to continue the evening.
